Collingwood Gallery was founded in 2000 as an outlet for artists who are not part of the commercial gallery circuit. Artists have the opportunity to hire the gallery and run their own exhibitions to gain the essential feedback they need from fellow artists and the public to enhance their work.
More experienced artists also get the opportunity to expose their work to a very diverse market. An important part of the life of Smith Street, the gallery is ideally placed for a very strong walk-in trade. Especially welcome are group show from a diversity of organisations; disability groups, indigenous artists, art student, sci-fi fans and so on.
The gallery is also available for hire for special events and conducts life drawing classes on Wednesdays. Since 2000 the gallery has been a venue for aver a 1000 artists, ranging in age from an eight to 85.
Genres from street art to basket weaving are all welcome at the gallery and the public is invited to attend all exhibitions.
